Barry Cheadle

Barry Cheadle has lived in Ballina in northern NSW for his entire life. He has been a newspaper and, more recently, an internet journalist, for more than 30 years.

Barry offers a range of services which can help you gain better access to all forms of media.

Barry's journalism career began in 1975 when he started a cadetship at The Northern Star in Lismore.

He covered local government, court, police rounds and general news before being appointed sports editor, a position he held for 18 years.

Barry left The Northern Star in 1999 to take up the role of sub-editor of the national Indigenous newspaper, the Koori Mail. He spent seven years at the Koori Mail, the last two as editor. His experiences at the Koori Mail took him to many places around the country, from the halls of Parliament House in Canberra to the art studios and football fields of the Tiwi Islands and the scenic sights of the Kimberley.

After leaving that position in 2005, Barry joined the team at Ballina.Info and continues to write articles for the website.
